“Daroga jee” (1949) has lots a lots of nice songs in it. I have already discussed as many as eight songs from this movie.

There are some facts that are constant in all these songs. All these songs are female solos. Geeta Dutt is the singer in all these songs and the songs are picturised on Nargis. Manohar Lal Khanna is the lyricist and Bulo C Rani composed the music. I suppose that this must be some kind of a record where only one singer was used to sing so many songs (perhaps all the songs) in a movie.

Here is this lovely song from “Daroga jee (1949). When the picturisation, it can be seen that Jairaj is the Daroga and his father has promised his aquaintance that Jairaj will be married off to his acqauintance’s daughter , who happens to be Nargis. In this song, Nargis watches a photo of her would be husband and sings this song.

It is a nice song from days gone by when things were simple and complicated and people used to get married often without knowing who their would be spouse is. Things are not too different in most cases even today, if one thinks about it.
