I had discussed a song from the obscure movie called “Preet” (1945). According to the little information available about this movie, it was directed by Ram Daryani and it had Chandramohan, Nazir , Snehprabha , Swarnalata , Pahari Sanyal, Gope , Gulab etc in it.

Subsequently, Sudhir jee dug up some fantastic information about the actor-singer Snehprabha Pradhan and mentioned it in a comment on that song.

Here is another song from “Preet” (1945). This song is an all female duet, and it is sung by Hamida Banu and Snehprabha Pradhan. It is just as obscure a song as any and only its audio is available, so one can only guess about the picturisation. While it is obvious that Snehprabha Pradhan’s voice was picturised on her, Hamida Banu may have sung for Swarnlata in this movie. In any case, Swarnlata is the only actress whose name figures in the cast of this movie that I have been able to find out.

In this song, a woman requests her beloved to open her ghoonghat gently and and not forcibly. The lyrics by D N Madhok are quite cute and natural and romantic, all at the same time.

Music is composed by Bulo C Rani.

I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request readers with keener ears to point out the correct words.
