Kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar

Posted on: August 4, 2011

Normally it is believed that old songs are obscure songs and new songs are better known songs. But that is not always the case. I find that several recent songs (anything created in 1970s and later are recent by the standards of this blog. 😀 ) have been forgotten in double quick time.

Take this song from “Khara Khota” (1981) for instance. Now, I was very much around in 1981, but I had neither heard of this movie nor its songs. And this is not an isolated case. There were several songs like this those days which sound like gems, but still they managed to end up in the dustbin of obscurity.

I became aware of this song only just now, when I went through the contents of the lyrics of this song, sent to me by Prakashchandra.

This song is so obscure that there is considerable confusion among music lovers about the movie this song belongs to. This song, it would seem, was originally created for “Khara Khota” (1981), a movie directed by B R Ishaaraa and “starring” Raj Kiran, Sarika, Dr. Sreeram Lagoo, Madhu Malhotra etc. Later, this song seems to have been reused in “Meetha Zehar” (1985).

This movie had two lyricists viz Indeewar and Anjaan. it seems that this song is written by Anjaan. Babla Mehta is the music director.

I became aware of this song just a few hours ago after I went through the contents of the lyrics of this song sent to me by Prakashchandra.

This song is stunning ! This song should have been one of the most memorable songs sung by Kishore Kumar and I am sure it would be regarded as such by music lovers, once they get to listen to this song.

Prakashchandra mentions that he once heard a radio interview with B R Ishara, the director of this movie. In that programme, the female version of this song was played. Yes, this song also has a female version sung by Asha Bhonsle which Mr Prakashchandra has been dying to listen to ever since. Your wait is over, and now you can listen to Asha Bhonsle version too. 😀

Here is this stunning song. And I have included the Asha Bhonsle version of this rare song too. Enjoy !

Song-Kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar (Khara Khota) (1981) Singer-Kishore Kumar/Asha Bhonsle,Lyrics-Anjaan,MD-Babla

Lyrics

Kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar
wo hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar
wo hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
koi kabhi
chhoo na paaye
maut aake laut jaaye
ye wo dua hai pyaar
wo hai ye pyaar
kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar
wo hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar

jeewan nayaa hamko tumne diya
taqdeer se ab nahin hai gilaa
nahin hai gilaa
jeewan nayaa hamko tumne diya
taqdeer se ab nahin hai gilaa
hai dard kyaa
ham samajhne lage
hamdard tumsaa hamen jo mila
hamen jo mila
andheron mein roshni hai
veeraanon mein zindagi hai
naam-e-khuda hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar
wo hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar

nafrat se bhi tum muhabbat karo
pehla sabak hamne tumse liya
tumse liyaa
nafrat se bhi tum muhabbat karo
pehla sabak hamne tumse liya
zameen aasmaan aaj mil hi gaye
mushqil ko mumkin banaa hi diya
bana hi diya
koi yahaan aisa kahaan
jeet le jo saaraa jahaan
ye wo adaa hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
kabhi hoti nahin hai jiski haar
wo hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
koi kabhi chhoo na paaye
maut aake laut jaaye
ye wo duaa hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar
wo to hai pyaar

Asha Bhonsle version
—————————————–
zara karke to dekho
mere yaar
kyaa hai pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar
zara karke to dekho
mere yaar
kyaa hai pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar

dheere dheere aata hai jo
aake nahin jaataa hai jo
ye wo nasha hai pyaar
o mere yaar
zara karke to dekho
mere yaar
kyaa hai pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar

nafrat to hai ek jhoothha nasha
deta hai taaqat ghadi do ghadi
ghadi do ghadi
nafrat to hai ek jhoothha nasha
deta hai taaqat ghadi do ghadi
insaan ko insaan banaate hain jo
muhabbat ki taaqat hai sabse badi
sabse badi
roothhe huye dil mile
toote huye dil khile
ye wo dawaa hai pyaar
o mere yaar
zara karke to dekho
mere yaar
kyaa hai pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar

jeene ki shakti deta hai jo
ik naam jiska vishwaas hai
pyaar vishwaas hai
jeene ki shakti deta hai jo
ik naam jiska vishwaas hai
apna hai koi
jahaan mein nahin
is baat ka ek ehsaas hai
pyaar ehsaas hai
thodi wafa thoda yaqeen
ho jaayegi duniyaa haseen
kar pyaar par aitbaar
o mere yaar
zara karke to dekho
mere yaar
kyaa hai pyaar
kyaa hai ye pyaar
dheere dheere aata hai jo
aake nahin jaata hai jo
ye wo nasha hai pyaar
o mere yaar
o mere yaar
o mere yaar

Looking at Prakashchandra sahab’s reaction I can only recall Shakespeare’s immortal lines: “If music be the food of love, play on”.

I have heard of this movie before but I don’t think I’ve seen it. I certainly cannot recall this song but have just listened to it now and it’s really lovely. It has that breeziness that Kishore was famous for. He could elevate any song to a different level just by his voice.

What a beautiful song. It is known song as far as i am concerned, and in my humble opinion in this genre Kishore excelled. I have loved all the songs of “Amar Prem” except ‘Chingaari koyi bhadke ‘. “Range bhare mausam se” is also a holi song.

I also think it was SDB more than RDB who made a serious singer out of a maverick Kishore Kumar. Kalyanji Anandji and L-P also composed some excellent songs for Kishore Kumar. “Mera jeewan Kora kagas” is a case in point which fetched him the National Award.

Babla composed music for
1)Ketan mehta`s HERO HIRALAL(Naseeruddin shah and Sanjana kapoor-1988)(one lata`s song”sapnon ki duniya hai” is popular from this and the amit kumar title song)

2)1985-Meeta Zehar(actress padmini kapila produced and acted in this Deepak parashar starred in this)(there is also confusion about who created music for meeta zehar, some write it as Bappi lahiri and some say Babla)

He assisted his brothers Kalyanji aanandji in their musical scores and used to give famous musical shows with his wife KANCHAN(who is also a playback singer, who sang qurbani, rafoo chakkar, paap aur punya, dharmathma songs)

babla mehta and BABLA are two different personalities I think, anyone who knows better in this regard.

Babla mehta sang a song with lataji for CHAANDNI(1989)-“Tere mere hoton ke meete meete geet mitwaa.aage aage chale hum peeche peeche geet mitwa:picturised on sridevi and rishi kapoor-music:shivhari

Prakashchandra ji,
Babla Mehta abd Babla are two different persons.
As rightly said Babla, younger brother of Kalyanji, along with his singer wife Kanchan organised music shows all over the world. They were particularly extremely popular in the West Indian Islands.Nine months in an year were spent by them abroad only.
This Babla’s surname was SHAH.

The director of the film always spelt his name as B.AAR.ISHAARA on the film posters(for unknown reasons).

He was a rebel and always dealt with bold themes. He married actress Rehana Sultaan. He said one of his interview that no producer is
interested in investing money on the films directed by him, because they don`t make money in box office. By co-incidence most of the films directed by him either got stuck with censors or remained in cans(or shelved) for shortage of money .

Sometimes his bold vision came across the screen effectively, sometimes audience failed to understand his vision, I think.

All his films had one or two beautiful melodious songs, that`s why for the sake of the music, I love the films directed by him, eventhough I failed to understand the theme of his films to the fullest extent.

Thank you
Peevesie`s momji for your supportive words.

I am really understanding nowadays how much I love these songs of hindi movies(that too music of 60`s,70`s,early 80`s)

Those days, we are not allowed to watch the movies except amithabji`s movies ,devotional movies and children`s films. That may the reason for my longing about 70`s movie songs.

I am crazy about those songs, eventhough they are mediocre, average compositions. I love the every aspect of movies of that era. “Pichle janam ka koi rishtha hoga aisa lagtha hai”

Every song carries its own nostalagic moments for me, whenever the lyrics or tune of these songs come to my mind, all the feelings of those days, the memory of people around me at that time, comes to my mind like flood water.

Kishore Kumar’s version song of this film was re-used in Meetha Zehar (1985) which was picturised on Deepak Parashar and Padmini Kapila. The video clip:

The song was written by Indeevar and not by Anjaan as mentioned in the tag.
