“Barsaat ki ek raat” (1981) had some awesome songs in it. The tunes of these songs were magical,and the songs were sung very nicely by the singers, namely Kishore Kumar and Lata.

Here is a female solo song from this movie, which is sung by Lata. It is picturised on Rakhi and Amitabh Bachchan, and what lovely picturisation it is ! Rakhi, who is blind ( the politically correct terms viz visually impaired etc had not come into existence till then), is wishing for a Knight in shining armour to come for her, and as the movie watchers can see, that Knight is very much watching her. Rakhi senses that there is someone, but could not put a finger to it. During the course of the song, she smiles, and Amitabh smiles too, and it is as if they are communicating by a sense which is not yet discovered but which is in existence.

The picturisation is as inspired as the music, and that makes watching and listeneing to this song a fulfilling experience.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and R D Burman is the music director.
