“Saahib Bibi Aur Ghulam” (1962) is a landmark movie in the history of Bollywood movies. The story, the plot, the acting- all these were top class. Public as well as critics appreciated this movie.

There are several movies called Dillagi, but the earliest movie of this name that I am awre of is “Dillagi” (1949). This movie had Shyam,Suraiyya, Amar, Sharda, Amir Bano etc in it.

Sometime back, I was wondering about the playback singers who have sung for Dev Anand and I counted about half a dozen different names. When one talks of “Dard” (1947), one is mostly reminded on the immortal song “Afsaana likh rahi hoon dile bekaraar ka” which took the natio by storm. It was sung by Umadevi (later known as Tuntun) and picturised on Munawar Sultana.

I have mentioned it many a times and I need to mention it again, that many of the well known iconic songs of Bollywood, whatever be their topics, are the creations of Ravi, though many people may not be aware of this fact.

What is this blog all about

This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song.

This is a labour of love, where "new" songs are added every day, and that has been the case for more than one year. This blog has over 2000 songs by now.
