Many of R D Burman’s songs in 1970s were fast paced songs that were loud, party songs. But when the sitauation demanded, R D Burman could come up with soft, sensitive romantic songs too.

“Bahaaron ke Sapne” (1967) was one of the very first movies of Rajesh Khanna. In this movie, a very young looking Rajesh Khanna was paired against Asha Parekh.

“Haathi Mere Sathi”(1971) was a dream movie for kids when it was released. The stunts of elephants had kids and elders all enthralled.

“Aan Milo Sajna” (1970) was a musical blockbuster. It had so many wonderful songs that it was difficult to keep track of them. All these days I thought that I had posted most of these songs, but I just realised that I had posted very few songs from this movie.

I have listened to this song many a times and I knew that this song was from a Rajesh Khanna movie. But that is all I knew.

I tend to know only a few popular songs from most movies. As a result, I often miss out on knowing about some very fine songs, just because they were lesser known songs from their movies.

“Bahaaron ke sapne” (1967) was one of the first movies of Rajesh Khanna. In fact, it was the first Rajesh Khanna movie that tasted some box office success ( his earlier two movies “Aakhri Khat” and “Raaz” were damp squibs) and thus his career as an actor took off in Bollywood .

I had listened to this song quite a few times in 1970s and later forgot all about it. I was so pleased to stumble upon this song again yesterday, like one meets long lost acquaintances in Bollywood movies.

“Palkon ki Chhaon mein”(1977) was a movie starring Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini. Despite boasting such big names, and despite a very nice storyline, the movie was a box office failure.
