“Chhalia” (1959) had many songs which were sung by Lata (for Nutan) and Mukesh (for Raj Kapoor). But the final song of this movie was sung by Rafi and it was picturised on Raj Kapoor.

“Teesri Kasam” (1966) was a labour of love created by Shailendra. It had some lovely songs in it which were penned by Shailendra himself.

I thought that I had posted songs from “Sharada” in the past. It turns out that I was confusing “Sharada” with “Sadhana”. Yes, those days we had movies with names like “Sharada”, “Sadhana”, “Kalpana” etc which were also the names of some well known actresses. Mukesh is traditionally regarded as the voice of Raj Kapoor, but that was not always the case. In his earlier movies, it was Rafi who often sang for Raj Kapoor.And we all recall that Manna Dey had famously sung for Raj Kapoor in “Chori Chori”.

“Ek Dil Sau Afsaane” (1963) was a movie starring Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman. It had the usual musical team of Raj Kapoor.

One tends to associate Raj Kapoor’s movies of 1950s and 1960s with Shankar Jaikishan’s music, but there are quite a few Raj Kapoor movies even in those days which had music by other music directors.

In late 1940s and early 1950s, actors were shown seated at the piano and singing a song. Now singing a song and playing a piano simultaneously is a superhuman job, but Bollywood actors would be shown doing that routinely.
