It has been pointed out to me that this song was missing from this blog. In fact there are so many nice songs that are yet to be posted, and it will take time before I am able to do justice to all these songs. One can only tr and post as many of these [...]

Tumko khush dekhkar main bahut khush huaa

“Aapke Deewaane” (1980) is a movie that had some nice songs in it. This is one of the few movies I recall where Rafi and Kishore Kumar sang together. It was perhaps for the last time that the two sang together, since Rafi died shortly thereafter.

Ho leke pahla pahla pyaar

When one listens to old Bollywood songs, then one tends to form an idea about the actor on whom the song must have been picturised. If the movie has a song sung by say Rafi, then one expects it to be sung by the hero of the movie.

Hamko bhi de de sahaara

“Zabak” (1961) was a movie that is not known to too many people, considering that it was an B grade movie. Its music was A grade, of course.

I am aware of at least two movies by the name “Seema”. One was released in 1955 and another was in 1971. Curiously, both these movies had music by Shankar Jaikishan.

“Opera House” (1961) was a B grade movie in which Ajit and Saroja Devi were the lead actors. I am surprised to notice that I have posted only one song from this movie which had some lovely songs in it.

This song “ghareeb jaan ke na tum haman mita dena” from “Chhoomantar” (1956) is one song from this movie that is well known to me for the last thirty years. This song is one of those songs that I had noted down in my diary of 1970s in which I used to note down the [...]

In 1950s, there were a few movies where Johny walker was the hero and O P Nayyar was the music director. One of these movies was in fact called “Johny Walker”.

Hamne jab dil thaa diyaa koyi waadaa tha kiya huzoor aapne

“Chhoomantar” (1956) was a movie in which Johny Walker was the hero. I have realised that this movie had some nice songs composed by O P Nayyar and I have in fact posted quite a few songs from this movie already.

Dil achcha hai achchi hai soorat

I have not watched the movie “Tum Haseen Main Jawaan” (1970) but going by the songs of this movie, I think this movie was one whose story was quite over the top.

What is this blog all about

This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song.

This is a labour of love, where "new" songs are added every day, and that has been the case for more than one year. This blog has over 2000 songs by now.
