Ever since Bollywood movies came into being, gossiping about the movies personalities and about their controversies have been a major activity of movie magazaines and other such publications. Often, some author would write something about some person purely from his ferile imagination and that would then become gospel for all times to come.

Identifying an O P Nayyar tune is easy for music buffs, but even music buffs will have difficulty believing that this song was composed by O P Nayyar.

The first movie of O P Nayyar as a music director was “Aasmaan” (1952). In this movie he had created songs that were diferent from his music of later movies. In this movie , he used the voices of Geeta Dutt, Raj Kumari and C H Atma.

When one listens to old Bollywood songs, then one tends to form an idea about the actor on whom the song must have been picturised. If the movie has a song sung by say Rafi, then one expects it to be sung by the hero of the movie.

In 1950s, there were a few movies where Johny walker was the hero and O P Nayyar was the music director. One of these movies was in fact called “Johny Walker”.

“Chhoomantar” (1956) was a movie in which Johny Walker was the hero. I have realised that this movie had some nice songs composed by O P Nayyar and I have in fact posted quite a few songs from this movie already.

This song “jaane kahaan mera jigar gayaa ji” is a very well known song. One may not be aware of the movie of this song, but everyone is aware of this song.
