There are songs with similar opening lines in “Ziddi” (1948) and in “Private Secretary” (1962). Both these songs are sung by Lata and both are superb songs.

In Bollywood movie songs, “dil” (heart” ) is an important subject of songs. In these songs, “dil” is desrcibed like it is a glassware. It gets broken, and also stolen- and that too at the hands of the beloved.

“Aapki Parchhaayian” (1964), like “Anpadh” (1962) was one movie that enhanced Madan Mohan’s repulation as being the ghazal king of Bollywood music world. In both these movies Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was the lyricist who penned some unforgettable songs.

Listen to this song and one may think that this is an O P Nayyar composition. I thought so too. But when I found out the details of this song, I found that this song was composed by Madan Mohan.

“Mem Sahib”(1956) was a delightful movie that is guaranteed to warm the cockles of the listerer and watcher of this movie. This lovely movie had Kishore Kumar, Meena Kumari ( in a bubbly role), and Shammi Kapoor.
