Tumhe dil se chaahaa

Posted by: squarecutatul on: November 15, 2009

When I decide to post a song, most of my time is taken to get the lyrics right. There are some people who inform me that one can get lyrics of the songs on internet. Like most well meaning (and uninformed and unsolicited) advises, this information is not backed by facts.
When you try to [...]

Le gayaa zaalim ghadi samajhke meraa dhadakta dil

In Bollywood movie songs, “dil” (heart” ) is an important subject of songs. In these songs, “dil” is desrcibed like it is a glassware. It gets broken, and also stolen- and that too at the hands of the beloved.

I have posted a couple of lovely songs from “Akashdeep” (1965) already. This movie clearly has other nice songs too, even if they are not as well known as the two songs that I have already posted.

“Teen Deviyaan” (1965) was for some reason a blindspot for me, and I was not much clued in to its songs. Now I am finding out that quite a few songs, which I enjoyed listening to without knowing about their details were actually from this movie.

Arre yaar meri tum bhi ho ghazab

“Teen Deviyaan” (1965) is a movie whose songs are somehow under represented in this blog. and this is a movie whose songs have somehow managed to escape my radar.

Tere deed se tasalli to na ho saki hamaari

I have watched many old actors only in black and white movies. So it was quite a pleasant suprise to see Ameeta, one of the more lovable leading ladies of 1950s and 1960s in colour, and that too in a B grade movie.

Wow! What a sweet melodious song. I may have heard this song ealier, but only in passing and without paying close attention. This time, I listened to this song attentively and then wondered if this has to be one of the sweetest songs sung by Lata. If there are sweeeter songs still, I will definitely [...]

Somehow, “Teen Deviyaan” (1965) has gone under represented in this blog, though this movie boasts of several fine songs. One reason why I have not posted most of them could be that I did not get to listen to the songs of this movie when I was growing up and therefore I am not much [...]

Husn iqraar kare ishq inkaar kare

Posted by: squarecutatul on: September 6, 2009

What is this blog all about

This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song.

This is a labour of love, where "new" songs are added every day, and that has been the case for more than one year. This blog has over 2000 songs by now.
