Here is another song which is “new” for me. I had neither heard about this song or about this movie called “Zindagi Aur Ham” (1962). This movie had Dinesh (?), Nalini Jaywant, Chand Usmani, David, Mukri etc. The fact that I have not heard about the movie could mean that the movie was a failure [...]

As far as Bollywood music lovers are concerned, most of them like songs that are “light” in nature, rather than the heavy duty stuff (viz classical msic based). But there are classical music based songs that are so nicely created that one loves to listen to such songs.

“Saahib Bibi aur Ghulaam” (1962) was a landmark movie in Bollywood. It was a musical blockbuster too.

I have discovered that “Prempatra” (1962) is a movie that had some sweet melodious songs in it that were composed with loving care by Salil Chaudhary.

In Bollywood movies, most songs are on the topic of love. In most of these songs, the singer wants to achievemore than what he/she has got. Rare is the song where the singer is happy with his/ her lot and has no further aspirations on this count.

Telephones may be ubiquitous and affordable these days, but they were regarded as a luxury item in India till just two decades back. Getting a telephone connection took as long as getting a ration card or a gas connection in India of yesteryears.
