“Namoona” (1949) was one of the earlier movies of Dev Anand, though Kishore Sahu was credited as the main hero of this movie. Kalpana Kartik was the heroine of this movie.

Here is a fun song from this movie, which I heard ( and watched) for the first time only yesterday. It is sung by Shamshad Begum. I am not sure on whom this cart (tamtam) song is picturised. I guess that Cuckoo, the famous dancer of those days, sings the song and the lady in the “tamtam” is Kalpana Kartik. Please correct me if my guess is wrong.

P L Santoshi, the director of this movie, was also the lyricist. C Ramchandra, one of the most innovative and pioneering music directors of those days, is the music director.
