atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Kat te hain dukh me ye din

Posted by: squarecutatul on: January 21, 2009

I have read a lot about this song, but it is only now, 58 years after this song was composed, that I have finally listened to this song. After listening to it twice, I must say that I am quite impressed.

The song is sung by Lata. The impressive lyrics have been written by someone called Noor Lucknowi, whereas music is by that musical genius C Ramchandra.

The music is so mimimal and basic that one may even miss it, but it plays an important part in creating the ambience. Lata Mangeshkar who was a newcomer those days was adding to her reputation with every passing song, and this song certainly enhanced her reputation.

Song-Kat te hain dukh me ye din (Parchhain 1952) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Noor Lucknowi, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

katate hain dukh mein ye din, pahloo badal badal ke
rahte hain dil ke dil mein, armaan machal machal ke
katate hain dukh mein ye din

tadpaayegaa kahaan tak, ai dard-e-dil bataa de
ruswaa kahin na kar den, aansoo nikal nikal ke
katate hain dukh mein ye din

ye khauf par jo chamki, ye khauf par jo chamaki
jarre na inko samjho
phenkaa gayaa hai dil kaa, phenkaa gayaa hai dil kaa
sheesha kuchal kuchal ke
katate hain dukh mein ye din

ulfat ki thokaron se,
ulfat ki thokaron se, aakhir na bach sakaa dil
ulfat ki thokaron se, aakhir na bach sakaa dil
jitne kadam uthaaye, hamne sambhal sambhal ke
katate hain dukh mein ye din, pahloo badal badal ke
katate hain dukh mein ye din

That was quite a feat, singing this song so effortlessly while lying in bed, even reaching high notes so clearly! I am not sure if I have ever heard this song before, but it is a beautiful song. By the way, does anyone know who the two ladies are?

FANTASTIC SONG…… TODAY I FOUND THIS SONG

saw this film way back in 50’s. never can forget this song.
brings old memories and my childhood days.
